The Great Commission

In Matthew chapter 28: 18-20 Our Lord and Savior said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Spiritual Formation

The Diocese of St. Thomas is committed to the development of professional staff and clergy, who are fully equipped to accomplish the work of teaching and guiding parishioners, and to spreading the love of God to believers and nonbelievers. In the Great Commission, Our Lord instructed His disciples to teach others.

Sacred Scripture also states in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

To accomplish these tasks, the Diocese of St. Thomas has developed its own House of Studies. Through this program, we are able to develop qualified believers, equip them to serve, and someday become Ordained Clergy with valid Apostolic Succession through the Old Catholic Communion of North America. Our self-paced intensive program teaches basic, intermediate, and advanced level theological principles. This is not a college, but is a certification program that fulfills the spiritual formation requirements for qualified individuals to serve as Lectors, Altar Servers, Sub-Deacons, Deacons, and Priests throughout our Communion. Our curriculum focuses on several different areas including; Personal Piety, Ministry and Pastoral Care, Church History, Doctrine, Theology, Tradition, and Sacred Scripture. Our Program is 95% online, and contains in-person training to ensure each candidate for ordination has an applicable liturgical understanding of the Mass.

Have you been called to serve at the Altar or called to plant a mission in a certain city?  Contact the Diocese of St. Thomas or any Parish within our Diocese to get started with your learning today.
